Coach Dunavant’s squad is stuck in a dead heat with Washington & Lee for sixth place with each team having four games left to play. EMU swept the series with the Generals in last night’s solid 66-54 victory. Freshman forward Jenny Cline led the team with 21 points, the highest point total of her career. Emily Misak chipped in with 17 points.
The schedule seems to favor the women’s basketball team as their final three games are against teams they have already beaten this season (Hollins, RMWC, Va. Wesleyan). The catch is, however, that Washington & Lee also plays Hollins and Va. Wesleyan before the end of the season.
Nevertheless, optimism is in the air since Coach Dunavant still hasn’t ruled out overtaking Randolph-Macon, which stands in the fifth-place position. The Yellow Jackets have three home games to play.
With such an important week ahead, the team is jockeying for the best position in the playoffs. Dunavant’s plan for action: “I think we just need to be consistent.” Send email to the editors about this article.
