Player of the Week: Carrie Keagy

Senior Carrie Keagy earns this weeks player of the week honors with the game winning goal in the first round of ODACs.
"The goal I scored was out of pure energy and team work. I was nervous deep in my belly and couldn't feel my legs, so I just ran around all crazy. Katie Lamm had an amazing pass to Kelsey Yoder, who gave me a perfect lead ball in front of the goal. I think my whole team almost had a heart attack when I slid and it hit the net, myself included. Really I couldn't have asked for a better last home game," said senior Carrie Keagy.
Having not played striker since the sixth grade, senior Carrie Keagy entered the match and within two minutes of the game scored EMU's only goal in the first round of ODAC playoffs against Lynchburg. The women then held Lynchburg scoreless and won the game.
Carrie is double majoring in photography and digital media. She plans to "eventually work with at risk children internationally through art, and raise awareness through film and photography." After college Carrie wants to attend graduate school in either New Zealand or Vancouver, Canada for Art Therapy.
Carrie grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and attended Lancaster Mennonite High School. She has played soccer since she was in the third grade. The last ten years of her soccer career she has played defense.
On Wednesday Nov. 1, the EMU women's soccer team advanced to the semi-finals in the ODAC tournament. The girls lost to Guilford when the game went into penalty kicks. In response to her final home collegiate game, Keagy said, "We had a pretty amazing season. Penalty kicks are a silly way to end, especially since we would have hosted the championship game on Saturday, but we made history this season several times, and I think that a solid pace has been set for the future."
