Carolyn Riley earned Player of the Week honors after leading the Lady Royals to three consecutive wins last week.

Earning Player of the Week honors is sophomore guard transfer; Carolyn Riley who has led the team in the past week to three consecutive wins over ODAC teams.

Coach Griffin commented on Carolyn Riley's performance this past week by saying "She brings a work ethic that no one can question. She plays hard and practices hard; it has been a joy to watch. She also has a passion, she just fires everyone else on the team up including the coaches, and it is contagious. She gets me fired up just being around her."

The Lady Royals have gotten off to a good start this year with a current overall record of 9-3 and 7-3 in the ODAC, which is good enough for third place. This past week they have gone 3-0 beating Washington & Lee, Guilford, and Emory & Henry all by ten points or more.

Riley, he transfer from Marymount University scored in double digits each of those three games. Against Washington & Lee, she was shy of recording a double-double with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Continuing her fine play this past weekend against Guilford she helped her team by netting 11 points and snatching 7 rebounds. In her game against Emory & Henry on Sunday she displayed why she earned honors as player of the week by scoring a game high 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.

It is not easy transferring schools and becoming adjusted to new friends and a different style of basketball. When asked about her transition from Marymount University to EMU she responded by saying, "Coach Griff has took me under his wing and made me feel right at home from day one. He truly sees us as friends before players and is an amazing Coach. I have been blessed to be a part of his program."

Carolyn resides in Warrenton, VA and is majoring in Health & Physical Education. Also in her spare time enjoys hanging out with friends and family, and working out to improve her game.
