Keagy will be speaking Friday morning in chapel on the importance of daily conversation with God.

Growing up as the child of a very conservative pastor, Anita Keagy never planned on getting pregnant at the age of 18. She also never expected to wind up with a child as a virgin mother.

This Friday, Anita Keagy, mother of EMU student Carrie Keagy, will be on campus to tell her story of an unwanted pregnancy without sex and her spiritual transformation because of her leap into the scriptures. Not only will she share her story in chapel on Friday morning, she will also be hosting a "Joyshop" the same evening.

JoyShop is an event to inspire a more active and passionate relationship with Christ. Its' ministry is dedicated to calling all believers in the body of Christ to a life-changing commitment of seeking God first every day through the disciplines of prayer and scripture. JoyShop Ministries' vision statement is Matthew 6:33: "But seek FIRST His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Anita believes God is calling us to be an agent of change in our nation, to lift up His name and His Word, to awaken the sleeping church from its slumber, and to be a new generation of passionate God seekers. "Anita is energetic and excited about the word of God. She really helped me to see the personal messages within the bible," said sophomore Lindsey Unruh.

Come out this Friday for a night of stories and challenges to intentionally choose to seek truth daily through a personal and active relationship with Jesus. According to Anita's teaching, there is absolutely nothing more important than seeking God within each day. No matter how educated or how successful you become, nothing can compare to the wisdom, life and undeniable joy that comes from intentionally choosing to meet God and surrender to him daily. Anita's hope is that this event will spark a collaborative effort on campus to study scripture, particulary the book of John in the following 21 days. This movement will be a creative student initiated collaboration open to all seekers of truth. Beginning this coming Monday and the next 20 evenings at 10:00, a series of Bible studies, readings, discussions, and short skits will be held in the Campus Center first floor. The entire challenge will be student led. Headed by Kara Bender and Carrie Keagy, the evening meetings will revolve around a greater understanding of the Book of John as well as much conversation on the words of Jesus. Every night a different student will be leading the session; new styles, worship, and material will abound as the leadership changes from night to night.

Senior, Kara Bender, SGA co-president will be heading up the first discussion group on John chapter 1. Students are greatly encouraged to sign up as a chapter leader for a night during the 21 days. The group is very open for all forms of discussion, meditation, worship, art and music.
