National act bands at JMU

Motion City Soundtrack, Phantom Planet, and The Juliana Theory will be performing at the JMU Convocation Center on Tuesday, November 29, and CAC has arranged that a block of seats be reserved for EMU students. Tickets are available through the EMU Box Office for $15, but are limited to one per student. Transportation to and from the event is available to students who sign up for van travel when purchasing a ticket. Doors open at 7:00p.m., and the show starts at 8:00p.m. Contact the EMU Box Office (x4663) for details.

International Education Week

This year's International Education Week celebration includes Cross Cultural Story-telling on Tuesday night, ECOTONOS - A Multicultural Problem-Solving Simulation led by Moira Rogers, associate professor of Spanish and Krista Martin, cross-cultural programs assistant on Thursday night and the annual International Fashion Show on Friday night among other events. Displays in the Campus Center profile international students and a World Travelers Map allows students to pin up the locations they have traveled.

Board of Trustees decision

The Board of Trustees has passed a motion saying that "over time," the board would like to see EMU establish faculty salaries on par with the National CCCU benchmark. EMU currently needs $700,000 to $1 million to reach that benchmark. President Loren Swartzendruber said that the mark was a long-term goal.
