Readership survey results
A student newspaper and yearbook are both important to the EMU community, according to the results of an online survey sent out to students, adminstration, staff, and faculty last week. In terms of importance, 269 out of 448 respondents (60 percent) said that both the Weather Vane and the Shenandoah yearbook are necessary to the university's well-being.
Over 70 percent of respondents said they read the Weather Vane regularly, compared to just over five percent who said they never did. The Weather Vane received an average rating of 2.66 in terms of news quality on a scale of one to five, where one is the highest quality. The average rating for opinion was 2.75. Relevance rated as an average of 2.32 for news and 2.55 for opinion.
In terms of representing campus life, the Shen was given a 2.93. Of 460 respondants, 39.8 percent had not seen it, 30.9 had glanced through it, and 29.3 said they had looked at most of it.
