Block Party hits downtown 'Burg
This Saturday, the party will be coming to you when the first annual Block Party in the 'Burg hits downtown.
The Block Party will be held on Court Square, running from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. It will feature free concerts from Shapiro, Nathaniel Baker, and Ross Copperman. Carnival-style contests, downtown tours, and an ice-cream eating contest sponsored by Kline's Dairy Bar are also planned. There will be breakdancers, relay races, and discounts from restaurants along with the discount from the Court Square Theater for its showing of the movie Dazed and Confused after the concerts.
The event is aimed at introducing students from the four area colleges to the downtown area in hopes that they can become "aware of and involved in their community," according to event organization committee chair Jamie Marsh.
Block Party in the 'Burg is free to students, and the general public is also invited to attend.
