The one-time Shepherd University baseball player, Jameson Jarvis, transferred into Eastern Mennonite University this fall bringing a blue-collar work ethic that has propelled him amongst the leaders in the ODAC at the plate.

Amidst a struggling year for the Royals, the play of Jarvis has been a bright spot. Jarvis is currently leading the conference in RBI's with 33 runs batted in, and is tied for the lead in long balls with seven homeruns. During last week's much needed win over Emory and Henry, the super sophomore was 1-3 in the first game with a double and two runs batted in, and went an impressive 5-5 in the second game that included a two shot homerun, double, and three singles in which he accumulated six RBI's and scored a run. Boasting a .360 batting average that is steadily rising, Jarvis looks poised to become a household name to opposing pitchers around the league.

Jameson said, "Baseball is life! Every time I take the field I'm reminded at what an honor it is to play this game. There are highs and lows during the season, and though it's kind of tough right now because we'd like to be winning more I still think about how fortunate I am to be able to play a game that I love."

With one of the smallest rosters in the conference, the Royals are still battling to improve their 5-21 (1-10 in ODAC) record. When asked about the keys to turning things around Jarvis said, "We know that we don't have a huge team in numbers, and that we're down on pitchers right now, but we're trying to stay positive and get better each and everyday. With some crucial injuries early in the season to a couple of our guys we're trying to maximize what we have in every way possible."

With only ten regular season games left in the season and a must win situation for the Royals to have any chance of making the ODAC tournament Jarvis said, "We have to play like every game is our last and hope that we'll all get hot down the stretch."

In need of some victories, Jarvis will need to continue his sizzling performance at the plate, and shining play throughout the remainder of the season.
