Mike's movie guide
It is that time of the week again, folks...time to find out if the campus movie is worth spending your precious time and money on.
The movie for this week (sorry guys or manly girls of EMU) is "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." The movie is based on the young adult book The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, by Anne Brashares.
"As four best friends spend their first summer apart from one another, they share a magical pair of jeans. Despite being of various shapes and sizes, each one of them fits perfectly into the pants. To keep in touch they pass these pants to each other as well as the adventures they are going through while apart." (Summary courtesy of www.compuserve.com)
I will be honest with you and let you know upfront that I personally did not see this movie. You should know, precious reader that you are, that the movie is rated PG for thematic elements, some sensuality and language. So if you don't think you can handle that in movies that you watch then I encourage you to rent something else from a local video store, or to use the always-free network.
"Sisterhood" did indeed receive more favorable reviews from critics than negative ones but does that really mean anything? I can pretty confidently say that this movie is better than "Glitter" or "Crossroads," so that should be enough. The general vibe I have heard from ladies around campus is that this movie was either good or that it was on the "Hey, I want to watch that movie" list.
If you're a girl, watch the movie. If you're a guy with a girl, watch the movie. If you're bored, guy or girl, watch the movie. If you own "Snatch" or "Boondock Saints," watch either of those movies instead.
Writer's Note: I more or less gave my "thumbs-up" of approval to last week's movie. If "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" was a complete bust for you, then let me know about it; send me some hate mail or something. Reach me at michael.miller@emu.edu.
