Letter to the Editor: Dear Jesus...

By Will Hairston

Dear Jesus,
After a review of your performance in recent years, we have decided not to renew your contract for next year, effective July 1, 2006. This decision was not based on the all too widely circulated reports that you have been associating with prostitutes. Nor was it based on your affirmation of the woman at Simon's house who had been in a committed, sinful relationship. Her crying on your feet is not the kind of foot washing that we believe in. Even your defense of the woman caught in the actual act of adultery is not what is prompting this decision. We are quite willing to overlook such scandalous incidents.

It is your ineffective leadership skills that have led us to this decision. In case have not noticed, hardly anybody in this community has been following you in any of the above described patterns. We do find your peace emphasis impressive but your focus on the poor seems unrealistic and out of touch with what EMU has become. We wish you the best as you seek another situation were your interests and leadership skills will be a better fit.

P.S. We feel we have the right to continue to use your name when appropriate due to our previous involvement with you.
