One-acts hit Homecoming:
Reynolds' debut at EMU

Amanda Opoku Amuaben, Colt Nutter, and Shannon Terranova get comfortable in "The Proposal."
On Homecoming Weekend, Patrick Reynolds, assistant professor of theater, will make his debut as director at EMU with two one-act plays featuring four students.
The first is a comedy named "The Proposal." The cast of three features a mother, Olga Nicholiva (Amanda Opoku Amuaben); her strong-willed daughter, Natalya Stepanovna (Shannon Terranova); and the faint-hearted suitor Ivan Vassilyevitch (Colt Nutter).
"The Proposal" is a comedy with a twist. It introduces characters the audience can relate to as well as laugh at. The work was written by Anton Chekov and challenges the dynamics of the stage and life. This play is sure to be a pleaser as fainting spells and misunderstood love signals get tossed about.
The second one-act, "The Man with a Flower in his Mouth," takes a more serious tone. It centers around a chance late-night meeting between a man (Kevin Ressler) and a commuter (Colt Nutter) who has missed his train. The man has a wife (Shannon Terranova) who is shadowing him. The play takes moments from everyday lives and portrays them as they really are, important to the whole.
This one-act is one of Luigi Pirandello's earlier works, written with elegance and cunning intelligence.
The plays will take place in the Studio Theater on October 7-9, beginning at 7 p.m.
