Eastern Mennonite University handed out awards to its top student-athletes and honored 32 senior athletes and support staff members as part of the 2005 Athletic Honors Banquet on Tuesday evening in Martin Chapel.

The most prestigious awards handed out during the evening were the President's Awards, presented by EMU President Dr. Loren Swartzendruber. These awards honor well-rounded individuals who have excelled in the areas of academics, leadership, character, Christian commitment, and athletic participation. The female awards went to Kendra Martin from women's soccer and Wendy Driver from women's track and field. Men's soccer player Jason Good was the male recipient.

Female and Male Athlete of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards were also handed out. Martin was honored as the Female Athlete of the Year while sophomore men's basketball player Jason Sager was named Male Athlete of the Year. For the Newcomer of the Year awards, women's basketball and softball player Miranda White was the female recipient and men's soccer and men's volleyball starter Ben Yoder was the male honoree.

Three graduating seniors were part of the Seniors in the Huddle. They were given the opportunity to share a few thoughts about their collegiate experiences at EMU. The speakers were women's basketball player Shantee Bryant, men's soccer player Ted Erickson, and women's volleyball player Michelle Nafziger.
