Boys of Summer Stumped

Bridgewater College pounded out 18 hits en route to an 18-0 rout over the baseball team in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
BC (20-11-1, 13-3 ODAC) scored in all but two innings during the game in cruising to the victory. The Eagles clinched at least a tie for first place in the ODAC. EMU (12-17, 4-9 ODAC) had just five hits.
Sophomore Chance Dobbs pitched five shutout innings to improve to 2-2 for the Eagles. Junior Brad Hayes tossed four innings in relief to earn his third save of the season.
Senior Tracy Wagner was 3-for-5 with four runs scored for Bridgewater. First-year Mike Graves was 3-for-4 with two RBI while sophomore Jono Brooks also had three hits, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Junior Bryan Saunders was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while junior Matt Johnson was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Junior Drew Cobb took the loss for EMU after allowing eight runs, seven earned, in six innings. Junior right fielder Michael Kniss went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Royals.
EMU will be home again on Thursday with an ODAC game at 4 p.m. against Randolph-Macon College.
