First-year Mandy Morris pitched a no-hitter in the first game and two pitchers combined for a one-hitter in the second game as the women's softball team swept a doubleheader 10-0, 10-0 over Randolph-Macon Woman's College at home on Wednesday.

Morris improved to 3-1 overall with her first collegiate no-hitter. She retired 15 of 17 batters faced, surrendering just two walks to senior pitcher Mary-Tyson Turner. It was the first no-hitter for the Lady Royals since sophomore Tessa Grubb held the Wildcats hitless in a 20-0 victory last season on March 15.

EMU pounded 13 hits as a team. Junior first baseman Kristin Lapp went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Grubb, first-year third baseman Laura Bomberger, senior second baseman Erin Partee, and sophomore catcher Emily Lam each went 2-for-3. Bomberger and Lam also drove in two runs apiece. Turner took the loss for the Wildcats after surrendering 10 runs, five of which were earned, in four innings.

In the second game, first-year Natasha Viafora held the Wildcats hitless until a single by junior catcher Jennie Crate in the fourth inning. Viafora, now 2-0 overall, struck out five and combined with first-year Roxanne Martin to record the shutout. First-year Dani Hansen allowed 10 runs on eight hits in four innings to record the loss. She fell to 1-4 on the season.

Grubb went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI. First-year designated player Miranda White hit a two-run home run to plate the final two runs for the Lady Royals. Bomberger and center fielder Sabrina Tusing each drove in two runs for EMU.

EMU will continue ODAC play with a doubleheader on Saturday against Guilford College at 2 p.m. and a twin bill on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Lynchburg College.
