Next Year's Leaders Hard to Find for Student Clubs

Many clubs are having a hard time finding next year's leaders as new SGA guidelines ask student clubs to submit names before the end of the semester.
The Eastern Mennonite Student Women's Association (EMSWA) is one of the many clubs struggling to find next year's leadership. "We really don't have a core group, so nobody really jumps out as a leader," said junior Amanda Maust, co-president. "If there isn't interest we really don't have any plans to continue."

Artist in Residence: Carrie Newcomer

At 43, Carrie Newcomer still has a little "wander" left.
Newcomer, who will be coming to EMU next week as "artist in residence," has been touring nationally as a folk singer/songwriter since she graduated from Purdue. Although she has performed in such prestigious settings as Carnegie Hall and the World Festival Theater in London, she also enjoys the opportunities of performing in small towns. Read more...

Wal-Mart Distribution Center Moves In

Think Super Wal-Marts are big? Wait until you see the new Wal-Mart distribution center coming to the area: it's more than six times the size of an average Supercenter.
Wal-Mart has chosen a site in Mount Crawford, just south of Harrisonburg, for a new regional distribution center. This new 1.2 million square-foot warehouse will employ 1,000 new workers starting in January of next year. Read more...
