Finding peace in the college life

At the end of the day what does busyness bring the stressed college student? Does busyness bring you a sense of fulfillment and contentment with who you are, or does it add pressure?
We live in a world where faster is better: the more multi-tasking you do, the more you have a handle on things. One of the first things that employers look for when individuals apply for a job is how many things that they were involved in at high school or college. But I ask again, what does this bring us in the end?
Could it be that we have it all wrong - that true happiness and inner peace cannot be found in the busyness of life but rather in solitude and prayer with God? How often do we think that the busier we are, the more friends we will have or the more attention we will gain from others? The truth is, too often we look for acceptance from the world instead of from God.
Where do we, in the midst of a busy life, begin to take a step back and question why it is that we're doing the things we're doing? Are we involved in different clubs and organizations to better ourselves and add clout to our personas, or are we involved because it is where God is calling us? Is it where God has gifted us and called us into his greater vision of what he wants his people to become?
Where do we draw the line? At what point do we lose touch with what God is trying to say to us in our heart of hearts? Are we so busy that we are unable to hear the still, quiet voice of God that speaks to us consistently, or is it that God is just not speaking to us right now?
I know these are a lot of questions, but maybe we need to start asking ourselves more questions.
I realize, like other students, that I too have a rather busy schedule. I confess that there are times when, at the end of the day, I am completely exhausted and drained from the events of the day. But I do not regret the events that brought me to my exhausted state for one moment. It is in these interactions with people that I see God at work in both my life and the lives of others.
There is nothing as inspiring to me as seeing how God is changing and molding my heart and doing likewise in others. I believe that God speaks to us through these changes. But it always makes me wonder if this is true for others or not. So my challenge to you is to ask yourself: Are you busy for the right reasons and is it all for you?
