Letter to the Editors:

Joke crossed the line

I am issuing a complaint about the article "An Interview With George Dubya" that was in the January 20 issue of the Weather Vane. Yeah, I understand that this is a satire column, but don't you think that the article was taking a joke a little too far?

After all, whether people like it or not, George Bush is our leader and a proclaiming Christian. It seems to me that the article is just trying to make Bush look stupid, which it does. I think the Weather Vane should have a little more respect for our President. Also, whether the Weather Vane doesn't or does think Bush is a Christian, the possibility is that he may be a Christian. Should we as Christians talk this way about our brother in Christ? Jokes and cartoons about Bush have been a part of the Weather Vane last semester too along with fewer Kerry jokes. Frankly, I am getting tired of reading them. Lastly, I think the Weather Vane needs to re-evaluate how columnists should write about other individuals.
