Flag football fun
Sophomore Chad Hershberger brought something new to EMU when he transferred here this fall by starting an intramural flag football league.
Hershberger designed the league to fulfill his sophomore practicum. With the help of Laurie Miller, director of intramural sports, the Flag Football league was a success.
The league's season began Nov. 9 and concluded with the championship game the night of Dec. 7. Hershberger designed the league so that it would consist of a regular season, playoffs, and the final championship.
"Everything went smoothly, and I plan to keep the league going next fall," said Hershberger. He said he has received many compliments on how smoothly and efficiently the league's season played out.
The league was made up of 15 teams, four of which were co-ed. In the end, it came down to two teams, "Peter Miller's Team" and "The Greatest Show on Turf," also known as the track team. After an hour of sweat and plenty of turf toe to go around, Peter Miller's Team became the champions of the 2004 fall semester flag football league.
"I'm really happy about the overall success of the flag football league and everyone's good sportsmanship," said Hershberger. "I want to thank everyone for coming out and making this a good event."
