An evening of karaoke
Jason Hostetter

Above, Maria Landis, Luella Kauffman, and Julianne Delp get up in front of the crowd to sing karaoke this past Tuesday night. The atmosphere in Maplewood’s basement was thick with a mixture of music, laughter, and nervous sweat as students and faculty alike showcased their singing abilities, or lack thereof. Among other participants were freshman Luke Gingerich, who gave an impressive rendition of "Oh, What A Beautiful Morning" and RDs Nathan Alleman and Phil Wiechart, who together sang "On the Road Again" between helpings of popcorn. Others played Rook, hovered around the song listing, or laughed with whoever happened to be embarrassing themselves at the time. The event began with few in the audience and even fewer performing (just Kevin Beachy), but the entertainers did come and with them spectators, eventually packing the basement with food, fun, and something like music.
