The men’s soccer team practiced three times a day during the weeks before the fall semester began. Exhausted legs were made fresh again when practices were cut to once daily as school commenced.

The Bridgewater College Tournament was an opportunity for the team to put the hard work to the test. Dickinson College proved to be a test of patience and nerves. Midway through the first half Clayton Suydam knocked in the first goal of the 2003 season. The Royal’s defense locked down the Devil’s until a late penalty kick tied the score at one. Two overtime periods failed to break the tie, and the Royals finished day one of the tournament 0-0-1.

Day two provided much better results. The Royals defeated the Washington College Shoreman 1-0. Freshman Aaron Moorefield scored the loan goal of the game and Tim Koehn stopped all seven shots that he faced.
