Concert Review: Trent Wagler, Jay Lapp

By Mark Fenton, Co-Editor

Bluegrass, sweet bluegrass, o how thy songs do caress the weary soul! Trent Wagler and Jay Lapp, local singer/songwriters, performed for a tightly-packed Common Grounds last Friday night, having recently returned from a tour of Ireland. Songs ranged from ballads to lively ho-downs, all performed skillfully by the duo. A particular crowd favorite was “Riverside,” a track from their new LP, Adrienna Valentine. Trent’s wailing voice stirred the crowd with incredible energy and both Trent and Jay played blazing solos on their respective instruments, guitar and mandolin. The lively pair performed with precision, gusto, and quite remarkable talent. It is safe to say that this duo is possibly the best act Common Grounds has seen this year.
