Immediately following last semester’s finals week, several residents of EMU’s Parkwood Apartments were the victims of robbery and vandalism. A combination of the thefts and a rowdy adjacent party resulted in a visit from the police as well as one arrest.

Each respective CA ensures that these actions are performed in all the rooms on their hall, so it was a surprise to several residents of Oakwood when they returned to their dorm rooms to find various items of value stolen.

'Burg and Beyond
“Go big or go home.” This was the mantra of our cross cultural leader, Harlan De Brun, on our trip to South Africa with 24 students and two leaders. So we did, by immersing ourselves in South African life. We lived in homes with families that became our families. By eating, sleeping, laughing and just living alongside South Africans, we were exposed to and deeply affected by different ways of living, worshipping, and knowing.

As editors, we usually write some editorial about changing our mindset about some issue, things that are arcane or cerebral. Instead, we have been discussing a number of things that we believe should be changed at EMU by us as students, by things that we can do, things that would benefit the student body or the campus lifestyle. These items of interest, though small, have the potential to have a large effect on campus life.

Benjamin Myers, a 2005 EMU graduate who now lives and works in Washington DC, returned to EMU this past Sunday to display his photography in the Hartzler Library Gallery. The exhibition, “Behind Closed Doors: An Insider’s Look at the United States Capitol,” is a photojournalistic portrayal of the day-to-day activities of the White House and the nation’s Capitol.
