About The Weather Vane

The Weather Vane is the campus newspaper for Eastern Mennonite University, published weekly while classes are in session. Through The Weather Vane, EMU undergraduate students seek to provide the student body with accurate, up-to-date news from the EMU campus and surrounding community and to act as a forum for debate on issues of faith and politics.

The Weather Vane is distributed for free to some 1,500 EMU undergraduate, graduate, and seminary students as well as the university’s faculty and staff. Advertising in the print edition provides a large part of the paper’s operating budget; preference is given to customers from the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. Subscriptions to the print edition are available for interested persons living off campus.

Opinions expressed are those of the writers and editors and do not necessarily reflect those of the university and its associates. In an agreement of mutual trust the editors expect the publisher to refrain from censorship and interference while the publisher expects the editors to produce an accurate and tasteful publication. About the Site

The Weather Vane website was redesigned fall semester, 2003, by Jason Garber with assistance from Veronica Hoffman, Jesse Yoder, Samuel Sauder (Web Server Administrator) and Mike Eberly (Graphic Designer). The site originally used a custom PHP templating system, but now uses Radiant CMS.

The online edition is published every Monday following the publication of the print edition.
